
Grass Valley
There are many attractions in Grass Valley but location is the key attraction. Located on Highway 49 off I80, the town is just 24-miles from Auburn. The town is at an elevation of 2800 feet (depending on where you are). Grass Valley residents enjoy the changing of the four seasons and do not miss the high heat and the fog that accompanies some of the lower elevations. Grass Valley is just over an hour from Sacramento and is approximately 1-1/2 hours from Tahoe City. There are numerous beautiful areas to visit in and around the Grass Valley area.
Grass Valley, long considered the gateway to the gold country, has a small town feeling with a traditional downtown area. Just about anything you might need, can be found right here. Grass Valley has a long history dating back to the gold rush days and is home to the Empire Mine which welcomes visitors to the history of the gold rush era.
This community is also home to many art and music lovers and can boast about the many great local artists and musicians in the area. There are several events scheduled throughout the year, either taking place in the downtown area or at the beautifully treed fairgrounds, which is also home for the Draft Horse Classic. Grass Valley is also home to many wineries, rivers and lakes.
The Nevada County campus of Sierra College is located in Grass Valley. Grass Valley can also boast about having some of the best schools in Northern California.
Grass Valley is a place where you make eye contact with people and it is a very generous city.
